What snacks and items should I bring to the beach?
I am most likely going to the beach on friday with my boyfriend. We're taking a city bus to get there, so obviously we need to pack light. I bought a tote bag and so far on my list i have: tea, tanning oil, chips, pretzals, sunbock, towels, a sheet to lay on, my ipod and my sunglasses. And what I'm wearing to the beach. And possibly a change of clothes.
I'd like to make kind of a good lunch for us, so we don't have to waste money on mcdonalds'. I was thinking of taking a lunch box with a few ice packs in it to keep things cool. What snacks could I bring that would stay good in just an ice-packed lunch box? What kind of sandwichs or foods?
Any more suggestions on items I should bring?

Instead of cold packs you could freeze a few juice boxes or bottles of water and then you would have extra cold drinks. I always find that dried fruit and nut mixtures are great for the beach. A day in the hot sun can really sap your energy, and that is great energy food. Granola bars, individually wrapped pieces of cheese, peanut butter or cheese and cracker individual snacks, apples, oranges and peaches all work well. Stuff a couple of pita pockets with your favorite fillings. They hold up well. Also bring drinking water - we would drink a huge amount of water at the beach on a hot day. A couple of magazines or a book might be a good idea. Have a great day.
